United by a mission, but separated geographically

While the Teal Team is united in their purpose, they are a distributed and asynchronous team, which means their face-to-face time is limited. They found that when they did get a chance to meet, discussions felt rushed and there was never enough time to cover everything they wanted to.

β€œOur team doesn't meet in person that often, and even when we do, there's always a lot to cover and not enough time to cover it.” - Julia Markish

Julia Markish's profile on Candor

‍

The Teal Team uses Candor shoutouts and check-ins to say connected between meetings.

The team only meets 3 times per month, so staying connected between those meetings is vital. The Teal Team has been using Candor for nearly a year to check-in with each other’s moods, recent reads, favorite music, and weekend plans. They also celebrate each other through Candor shoutouts, where they recognize each other for living the team’s values of Community, Collaboration, Coaching, and Curiosity.

β€œCandor has helped the Teal Team stay connected between meetings. The prompts for check-ins invite a bit of vulnerability, and I've found them to build deeper bonds than we might have otherwise. Thanks for a tool that is friendly and unobtrusive, even as it promotes greater tightness among colleagues.” - Ed Frauenheim

Personal Check-ins and Shoutouts on Teal Team's Team Space

Staying in sync while async

Candor helps the team stay in touch in a way that feels authentic to their mission and their way of working. Asynchronous, authentic, and human.

‍

β€œAt the Teal Team, we're a distributed and very fluid community of practice promoting new ways of working that include wholeness, evolving purpose, and self-management. The platform helps us continue practicing wholeness in an asynchronous and distributed way that fits with our team.” - Matthew Spaur

‍

‍

Even though the team is physically apart, Candor lets them connect on a deeper level and connect as humans, not just colleagues.

Julia Markish

‍

‍"Candor check-ins and shout-outs help me feel continually connected to my teammates β€” not just in the operational "here's what I'm working on" sense that Slack does, but in the deeper "here's who I am" sense. It lets us stay in touch with each other's β€” and our own β€” humanity.” - Julia Markish
